USS Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group Conducts Joint Maritime Activity with Indian Forces.

In a demonstration of their shared commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific, the Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group (TRCSG) and the Indian Navy conducted a joint maritime activity in the Indian Ocean on July 12, 2024. This exercise aimed to enhance interoperability between the two nations’ military forces, focusing on maritime domain awareness, logistics interoperability, and combined air-to-air capabilities.

The participating units included the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71), Carrier Air Wing 11, USS Daniel Inouye (DDG 118), INS Visakhapatnam (D66), and INS Aditya (A59).

The Indian Navy regularly joins U.S. Navy units in various multilateral exercises spanning the Pacific region, including Southwest Asia and the African littoral. Moreover, the Indian Navy is currently playing a key role in the prestigious Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2024 exercise in Hawaii, where they are operating in leadership positions alongside the U.S. Navy and other allied nations.

The joint exercise highlights the strong defense partnership between the US and India, promoting a free and open Indo-Pacific region. The 7th Fleet, the US Navy’s largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, regularly operates with allies and partners to maintain regional security and stability.

Following the successful joint maritime exercise in the 7th Fleet area of operations, the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) has rejoined Carrier Strike Group Nine, resuming its operations with the strike group in the region.
