US Removes Indian Nationals in Ongoing Immigration Crackdown

Washington, D.C. – The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recently carried out a removal flight to India, returning individuals without legal residency.

“Indian nationals without a legal basis to remain in the United States are subject to swift removal, and intending migrants should not fall for the lies of smugglers who proclaim otherwise,” said Kristie A. Canegallo, official Performing the Duties of the Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security

This action aligns with DHS’s efforts to curb irregular migration and human smuggling, in collaboration with international partners. Southwest border encounters have dropped 55% since June 2024.

Since June 2024, the US has seen significant progress in securing its borders. The implementation of the Presidential Proclamation has led to a 55% decline in southwest border encounters. Additionally, Homeland Security has successfully repatriated or removed over 160,000 individuals to more than 145 countries, including India.

“DHS is committed to upholding US laws and facilitating lawful entry,” said a US department official.

The department’s international cooperation aims to reduce irregular migration, combat smuggling, and ensure orderly repatriation. This year’s removal numbers exceed previous years, with continued expansion of removal flights globally.
