Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Honor Police Martyrs on Commemoration Day

New Delhi: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, will pay homage to police personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice on Police Commemoration Day at the National Police Memorial in New Delhi on October 21, 2024.

October 21 commemorates the 1959 martyrdom of ten policemen in Ladakh. This day honors all police martyrs who have died in the line of duty.

Dedicated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2018, the National Police Memorial symbolizes national identity, pride, and unity among police forces. The memorial features a central sculpture, Wall of Valour, and a museum.

On October 21, a joint parade of Central Armed Police Forces and Delhi Police will be held, followed by wreath-laying ceremonies and an address by Amit Shah. Retired DGs, police officers, and dignitaries will attend.

From October 22-30, commemorative events will include visits by martyrs’ families, police band displays, motorcycle rallies, blood donation camps, essay competitions, and video showcases. Similar events will be held nationwide.

Police Commemoration Day honors police martyrs and reinforces police personnel’s commitment to serving the nation. The National Police Memorial stands as a testament to their bravery and selflessness.
