Union Home Minister Amit Shah Inaugurates 24×7 Water Supply Project in Chandigarh’s Manimajra

In a significant move to improve the quality of life for residents of Manimajra in Chandigarh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated a 24×7 water supply project on August 4, 2024. The project, completed at a cost of approximately Rs 75 crore under the Smart City Mission, aims to provide round-the-clock water supply to over one lakh people in the area.

Addressing the inaugural event, Shah highlighted the importance of access to clean water, stating that it is essential for a healthy life. He emphasized that the project would not only provide water but also reduce water leakage and ensure good water pressure through the installation of smart meters and a VFD pump.

Shah also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives, including the Smart City Scheme and the Jal Jeevan Mission, which aim to provide clean water to every citizen and tap water to every household across the country. He expressed confidence that every household in India would have access to clean tap water before the end of Modi’s third term as Prime Minister.

The Union Home Minister emphasized the power of individual resolve in driving the country’s progress. He said, “The resolve of the citizens of the country will take the country forward on the path of becoming a developed nation.” He cited examples of how small actions, such as a child not leaving food on their plate or a businessman not evading taxes, can collectively strengthen the country.

Shah noted that the collective resolve of 130 crore people is equivalent to 130 crore steps forward for the country, terming it a “miracle brought about by Modi ji.” He expressed confidence that the resolute people of India are committed to making India a developed nation and that the inauguration of the water supply project in Chandigarh marks another step in this direction.

The project is a significant step towards improving the infrastructure and quality of life in Chandigarh, with the government spending over Rs 30,000 crore in the last 10 years on development, including Rs 29,000 crore on infrastructure.
