Union Home Minister Amit Shah Chairs High-Level Review Meeting on Jammu and Kashmir Security

New Delhi: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah chaired a high-level review meeting on the security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir today. The meeting was attended by top officials, including National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Lieutenant Governor of J&K Manoj Sinha, Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pandey, and others.

Shah directed security agencies to replicate the successes achieved in the Kashmir valley through the Area Domination Plan and Zero Terror Plan in Jammu division. He emphasized the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government’s commitment to cracking down on terrorists through innovative means.

The Union Home Minister stressed that the fight against terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir is in its decisive phase, with recent incidents showing a shift from organized terrorist violence to a proxy war. He reiterated the government’s Zero Tolerance Policy against Terrorism and pledged to leave no stone unturned in rooting out terrorism from the region.

During a review meeting, Union Home Minister Amit Shah directed security agencies to exercise heightened vigilance and deploy sufficient personnel to ensure a secure Amarnath Yatra. He emphasized the importance of seamless inter-agency coordination, effective security arrangements, and a well-established response mechanism. Minister Shah reaffirmed the government’s commitment, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, to provide a convenient, hassle-free experience for devotees while adopting eco-friendly practices in managing the yatra. He stressed that the government’s top priority is to ensure devotees can have a smooth and difficulty-free holy darshan experience.

Shah appreciated the significant reduction in terror-related incidents in the Kashmir Valley and the record flow of tourists, attributing it to the efforts of the Government of India. He also commended the security agencies and J&K administration for the successful conduct of Lok Sabha elections, which saw a record voter turnout.

The meeting focused on seamless coordination among security agencies, identifying vulnerable areas, and addressing security concerns. Shah directed all security agencies to work in a mission mode and ensure a quick response in a coordinated manner.
