Union Home Minister Amit Shah Chairs High-Level Meeting to Enhance National Security

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level meeting with heads of security and law enforcement agencies to review the functioning of the Multi Agency Centre (MAC) of the Intelligence Bureau (IB). The meeting aimed to strengthen the country’s security framework and address evolving security threats.

Home Minister Shah emphasized the need for a whole-of-government approach to national security, stressing greater synergy between agencies to dismantle terror networks and their supporting ecosystems. He instructed agencies to increase engagement in the MAC, making it a cohesive platform for law enforcement, anti-drug agencies, cyber security, and intelligence agencies to take decisive and prompt action.

Shah highlighted the importance of MAC as a trusted platform for proactive and real-time sharing of actionable intelligence among stakeholders, including last-mile responders. He also announced plans to constitute a team of young, technically proficient officers from all agencies involved in national security to utilize Big Data and AI/ML-driven analytics and technological advancements to dismantle the terror ecosystem.

The Home Minister reiterated the need to stay ahead of emerging security challenges and informed that the MAC framework would undergo a major technical and operational revamp to increase its reach and effectiveness under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He exhorted stakeholders to bolster these efforts through prompt responses and aggressive follow-up of shared inputs.
