Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh Takes Holy Dip at Mahakumbh

Prayagraj : Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh arrived in Prayagraj on Saturday to attend the Mahakumbh, a significant Hindu pilgrimage.
Singh took the sacred dip at Triveni Sangam, chanting slogans such as “Sanatan Ki Jai” and “Ganga Maiyya Ki Jai.” He then visited Akshayvat, Patalpuri, and Bade Hanuman Ji temples, reviewing the preparations for the Mahakumbh.
The Defense Minister performed the holy ritual of ‘aachman’ of Maa Ganga, offered ‘Arghya’ to Lord Surya, and prayed for the nation’s prosperity and well-being. Speaking on the occasion, Singh said, “I consider it my great fortune to have taken a holy dip in the Sangam at Prayagraj today. The Mahakumbh is a grand spiritual and cultural festival that embodies the essence of Indianness.”
Later in the evening, Singh met with Army officials to discuss security arrangements for the Mahakumbh. He reviewed the measures in place, particularly in light of concerns about potential terrorist threats and rumors of a bomb being found at the Mahakumbh.
The Mahakumbh 2025, a 45-day mega event in Prayagraj, is poised to create a cultural, social, and economic impact on Uttar Pradesh. According to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the event is expected to generate Rs 2 lakh crore in business, boosting the state’s GDP by 1% and substantially increasing GST collections.
The event is projected to attract 45 crore visitors, both domestic and international, who will spend an estimated Rs 4.5 lakh crore. This financial infusion is expected to strengthen quarterly GDP figures and contribute significantly to the country’s annual national GDP.
Experts predict that the government’s investment of approximately Rs 16,000 crore will yield returns many times over, generating significant revenue through GST, income tax, and other indirect taxes. The reinvestment of this revenue into infrastructure is expected to have a cascading effect on the economy, driving a 1% increase in GDP growth.
The Mahakumbh 2025 is set to be a pivotal step toward achieving Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision of making Uttar Pradesh a one trillion-dollar economy.
