U.S. Mission To India Hosts Fourth “Super Saturday” To Reduce VISA Wait Times
New Delhi : In an effort to reduce visitor visa wait times, the U.S. Mission to India is hosting its fourth “Super Saturday” this weekend. On December 7, the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi and Consulates in Mumbai, Kolkata, and Hyderabad will open their doors to accommodate applicants requiring in-person visa interviews.
This initiative is part of a larger effort to address the growing demand for travel between the United States and India. The U.S. Mission in India has already processed over one million visas this year and is working to reduce wait times for first-time visa applicants.
“The people-to-people ties between the United States and India are stronger than ever, and we certainly understand that so is the demand for visas,” said Mark McGovern, Consul General at the U.S. Embassy New Delhi. “That’s why we’re working overtime to keep the momentum going, even if it means coming in on a Saturday. Knowing that we can have that kind of impact makes this job so rewarding.”
The U.S. Mission to India has implemented several measures to reduce visa wait times, including remote processing of interview waiver cases, increasing the number of consular officers, and prioritizing legitimate travel.
