Tamil Nadu to Receive ₹944.80 Crore as Cyclone Relief from Centre

New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has approved the release of ₹944.80 crore to the State Government of Tamil Nadu as central share from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to provide relief assistance to people affected by cyclone “Fengal” on November 30, 2024.
An Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) has been sent to Tamil Nadu and Puducherry to assess the damages caused by the cyclone. Additional financial assistance from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) will be approved after the assessment reports are received.
This year, the MHA has released over ₹21,718.716 crore to 28 states, including ₹14,878.40 crore from SDRF to 26 states and ₹4,808.32 crore from NDRF to 18 states.
In addition to financial assistance, the Central Government has provided logistic support, including deployment of NDRF teams, Army teams, and Air Force support to affected states.
