Rajnath to Putin: India-Russia Ties ‘Higher Than Himalayas’
Moscow: In a significant move to bolster bilateral defence cooperation, Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. The meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the 21st session of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military and Military Cooperation, marked a major milestone in the India-Russia defence partnership.
During the meeting, Singh conveyed warm greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to President Putin and discussed various issues of bilateral defence cooperation. The two leaders expressed their commitment to strengthening the partnership between India and Russia, which they believe holds immense potential for remarkable outcomes.
Singh emphasized the strong bond between the two nations, stating that their friendship is “higher than the highest mountain and deeper than the deepest ocean.” Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov also held talks with Singh, highlighting the strong, time-honoured friendship between Russia and India.
The two defence ministers discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation in the military and military-technical spheres, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties. The meeting is expected to further boost defence cooperation between India and Russia, with a focus on strengthening bilateral ties and promoting mutual interests.

The Indian delegation, led by Singh, was welcomed at an official ceremony with a company of the Guard of Honour and a military orchestra. The visit underscores the importance of the India-Russia defence partnership and the commitment of both nations to strengthening their bilateral ties.
