President Droupadi Murmu to Confer Srimanta Sankardeva Award 2025

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu to confer the prestigious Srimanta Sankardeva Award 2025 scheduled in April this year. The award is named after the great Vaishnavite saint and reformer of Assam, Srimanta Sankardeva.

The invitation was extended by Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma during a meeting with the President at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday evening.

The award is a testament to the state’s rich cultural heritage and its efforts to promote excellence in various fields.

Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his official residence. He also attended a badminton match at the KD Jadhav Indoor Stadium, showcasing his support for the sport as the president of the Badminton Association of India.

In a separate development, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma embarked on a five-day visit to Seoul and Tokyo to engage with industry leaders, investors, and stakeholders ahead of the Advantage Assam 2.0 – Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025. The summit, scheduled for February 25 and 26 in Guwahati, aims to attract investment and boost infrastructure development in Assam.

“I am leaving for Seoul and Tokyo to present our vision for #AdvantageAssam2 to prospective investors and business leaders,” Dr. Sarma posted on X. “I intend to showcase Assam as a key anchor state in strengthening Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Act East Policy.”
