German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is set to embark on a three-day official visit to India from October 24 to 26, 2024. This marks his third visit to the country, following previous trips in February and September 2023.
During his stay, Chancellor Scholz will engage in high-level discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, focusing on key areas of cooperation. The two leaders will explore ways to enhance security and defense collaboration, facilitate greater mobility of skilled professionals, and deepen economic ties.
A major highlight of the visit will be the 7th Intergovernmental Consultations, where ministers from both nations will convene to discuss sector-specific issues. Chancellor Scholz will be accompanied by senior members of his cabinet.
The Chancellor and Prime Minister Modi will also address the 18th Asia Pacific Conference of German Business, bringing together prominent business leaders from Germany, India, and beyond. This conference aims to propel trade and investment between the two nations.
Chancellor Scholz’s visit will also include a stop in Goa, where German naval vessels will make a port call as part of Germany’s Indo-Pacific deployment.
This significant diplomatic engagement comes as India and Germany celebrate 50 years of science and technology collaboration and mark 25 years of strategic partnership. The visit is expected to further solidify the strong bilateral relationship between the two nations.
