NIA Conducts Pan-India Raids, Uncovering Al-Qaeda Terror Funding Network

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) launched simultaneous raids across nine locations nationwide, targeting individuals suspected of supporting Bangladesh-based Al-Qaeda operatives. The raids, conducted in Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, West Bengal, Bihar, Tripura, and Assam, uncovered incriminating documents, digital devices, and evidence of terror funding activities.

The suspects, sympathizers of Bangladesh-based Al-Qaeda networks, allegedly radicalized Indian youth, spread violent ideologies, collected funds, and transferred them to Al-Qaeda.

Previous investigations led to charges against five accused, including four Bangladeshi nationals: Mohd. Sojibmiyan, Munna Khalid Ansari, Azarul Islam, and Abdul Latif, alongside Indian national Farid.

During the raid NIA teams recovered incriminating documents including revealing banking transactions and terror funding activities also digital Devices, Mobile phones and other evidence linked to Al-Qaeda.

NIA alleges that suspects collected and transferred funds to Al-Qaeda

The NIA’s ongoing investigation stems from a 2023 case involving Bangladesh-based Al-Qaeda operatives collaborating with arrested individuals.

As per NIA, those accused procured forged documents, radicalizing vulnerable youth and promoting Al-Qaeda’s ideology.
