NIA Conducts Multi-State Raids in Arms Trafficking Case
New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out simultaneous searches at 17 locations across four states, marking a breakthrough in a major arms trafficking case.
The raids, conducted in Bihar, Nagaland, Haryana, and Jammu & Kashmir, targeted 15 accused individuals, including 11 suspects linked to previously arrested and chargesheeted accused.
The searches yielded a substantial haul, including a .315 rifle, ammunition, digital devices, and raw materials suspected to be used in the manufacture of firearms. A car and cash amounting to Rs. 13,94,840 were also seized.
According to the NIA, the case involves the smuggling of prohibited weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, from Nagaland and other North Eastern states. Bihar was being used as a transit route for further smuggling to other states.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused have been engaged in arms smuggling activities for several years. The NIA is continuing its investigation into the matter.
