Naxalites Suffer Major Blow: Three Top Leaders Killed in Abujhmad Encounter

Chhattisgarh’s Abujhmad region, long plagued by Naxalite violence, has witnessed a significant turning point. Security forces, under the “Maad Bachao” have achieved a historic victory against top Naxalite leaders.

A seven-day operation, initiated on September 23, 2024, culminated in the elimination of three prominent Naxalites during an encounter in Paradi forests. As per state government Rupesh of DKSZC, with a ₹25 lakh reward, DVCM Jagdish (₹16 lakh), and female Naxalite Sarita (₹8 lakh) were among those killed. The 124-hour operation involved DRG, STF, and BSF teams, covering Narayanpur, Kondagaon, and Dantewada.

A substantial cache of weapons, including AK-47s and INSAS rifles, was seized. Rupesh had 66 cases registered against him, including the 2009 Madanwada attack that claimed 29 soldiers’ lives. Jagdish had 43 cases, while Sarita was a key member of Naxalite Company No. 10.

Chief Minister Sai actively oversees operations, prioritizing peace, security, and development in Naxal-affected areas. Essential services like roads, healthcare, education, and electricity are being enhanced.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah closely monitors operations and development work, stating that Naxalites must surrender or face consequences. This stance is expected to encourage Naxalites to adopt peaceful means.

The recent encounter has instilled hope among villagers, who envision a future free from Naxalite fear and filled with development opportunities. Inspector General of Police Sundarraj P. highlighted the significant progress made this year, with 157 Naxalite bodies recovered, 663 arrested, and 556 surrendered.

Abujhmad is on track to become Naxalite-free, marking a decisive victory for security forces and a brighter future for its residents.
