Minister Gadkari Represents India at Iranian President’s Inauguration
In a significant diplomatic gesture, Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, represented the Government of India at the swearing-in ceremony of Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in Tehran on July 30, 2024.
During the ceremony, Minister Gadkari conveyed warm wishes from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to President Pezeshkian on assuming office, marking a positive start to their bilateral engagement
The Minister’s visit to Iran also provided an opportunity for both sides to assess the state of their bilateral relations, with a focus on cooperation on the development of Chabahar Port. The two nations underscored the significance of Chabahar Port in strengthening bilateral and regional trade, as well as providing access to landlocked Afghanistan and Central Asian countries to regional and global markets.
This diplomatic engagement highlights India’s commitment to fostering strong ties with Iran and promoting regional cooperation for mutual benefit.
