Joint Roadmap: Russia & India Collaborate on Transport Innovation
Moscow, September 24 – The 2nd meeting of the Russian-Indian Working Group on Roads and Intelligent Transport Systems took place in Moscow, marking a significant step forward in bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
The Russian delegation, led by Dmitry Zverev, State Secretary – Deputy Transport Minister, and the Indian delegation, headed by Anurag Jain, Secretary (RT&H), Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, converged to outline key areas of collaboration.
Research in road construction, investment in infrastructure, exchange of best practices in “smart” transport solutions, introduction of highly automated transportation, and partnership between educational institutions are the five main vectors of joint work identified during the meeting.
The sides also agreed to share expertise in organizing freight transportation, with a focus on unmanned transport. The prospects of cooperation between the Russian University of Transport and the Indian Academy of Highway Engineers to develop professional competencies were discussed.
Russia proposed a project on barrier-free toll collection using satellite navigation, while India assured openness of tenders for international companies.
This meeting demonstrates the growing partnership between Russia and India in the fields of road transport and smart technologies. The collaboration aims to drive innovation, improve infrastructure, and enhance professional expertise.
