Indian Naval Ship Imphal Arrives in Mauritius for National Day Celebrations

Port Louis: Indian Naval Ship Imphal arrived in Port Louis, Mauritius, today to participate in the 57th Mauritius National Day celebrations on March 12, 2025. This visit strengthens bilateral ties and maritime security cooperation between India and Mauritius.

During the celebrations, INS Imphal will participate in the National Day Parade at Champs de Mars, featuring a marching contingent, naval band, and helicopter flypast. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the Chief Guest at the event.

The ship’s visit includes cross-training visits, friendly sports fixtures, community outreach activities, and a joint EEZ surveillance and exercise with MCGS ships. This deployment underscores India’s commitment to promoting a safe and secure Indian Ocean Region in partnership with island nations like Mauritius.

Commissioned in December 2023, INS Imphal is one of the largest and most technologically advanced warships in the world, equipped with state-of-the-art weapons, sensors, and machinery.

This visit highlights India’s strong bilateral ties with Mauritius, built on shared historical, political, economic, security, and socio-cultural connections.
