Indian Army Provides Timely Relief in Ramban After Cloudburst

Ramban, Jammu & Kashmir: The Indian Army has launched relief and restoration operations in the Ramban district following a cloudburst and intense rainfall that affected the area. The Army’s swift response has ensured assistance to stranded civilians and restoration of connectivity along National Highway 44 (NH44).

The Indian Army initiated immediate action in coordination with civil administration officials, including the District Commissioner, Senior Superintendent of Police, and the Superintendent of Traffic. Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) from Banihal, Karachial, Digdaul, Maitra, and Chanderkote were rapidly mobilized to provide relief to stranded travelers.

Army personnel extended support by distributing tea and hot meals, offering temporary shelter, and providing basic medical aid to those in need. Eight Army columns are currently on standby at key locations, ready to assist further if required.

The Indian Army is working closely with civil authorities to assess the situation and provide support. While no emergency requisition has been made, civil authorities have assured that they will seek Army assistance if needed.

Clearing operations along the obstructed highway have begun, with JCBs and heavy equipment from civilian construction firms, including KRCL, CPPL, and DMR, working to restore connectivity. Initial assessments indicate that road clearance and restoration may take up to 48 hours.

Despite the challenges, the local community remains resilient. A stranded civilian expressed confidence in the Army’s ability to restore normalcy, saying, “Koi dikkat nahi hai… Army hai na… Sab kuchh theek ho jaayega” (“There’s no problem… The Army is here… Everything will be fine.”).
