The Indian Army has taken a significant leap forward in enhancing its military capabilities with the successful conduct of HIM-DRONE-A-THON 2, held from September 17-18, 2024, in Ladakh’s breathtaking Wari La Pass. This pioneering initiative aims to harness cutting-edge indigenous drone technology to boost operational efficiency and tactical superiority in challenging terrains.

Drones are increasingly crucial in modern warfare, as evident in recent conflicts in Ukraine and Israel. Their roles have expanded to include surveillance, logistics, precision strikes, communication, and more, showcasing their versatility and effectiveness.

The HIM-DRONE-A-THON 2 event provided a platform for drone manufacturers to showcase high-altitude solutions, spanning surveillance, logistics, loitering munitions, swarm, and FPV operations. The extreme terrain of Ladakh validated the performance and global applicability of drone systems, positioning India to become a key player in the global drone industry.

The Indian Army felicitated all participants for their innovations and gave special recognition to the winners in the logistics and FPV categories. A majority of these manufacturers will also exhibit at HIMTECH 2024 on September 20-21 in Leh. The event enabled the Indian Army to shortlist potential products for procurement and recommend improvements for select products.
