Building on the commitment made during Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s state visit to India in March 2023, the dialogue aimed to expand bilateral cooperation in cyberspace. The meeting demonstrated India’s dedication to fostering strategic partnerships in the face of emerging cyber challenges.
The discussions focused on shared cybersecurity concerns, national strategies, and policies. Key areas of collaboration included protecting critical information infrastructure, capacity building initiatives, and multilateral cooperation, particularly within the United Nations framework.
The landmark meeting was co-chaired by Amit A. Shukla, Joint Secretary (Cyber Diplomacy), Ministry of External Affairs of India, and Michele Giacomelli, Minister Plenipotentiary and Head of the Unit for Technological Innovation and Cybersecurity at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The Indian delegation included representatives from the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and CERT-In. The Italian side comprised officials from the National Cyber Security Agency, Postal Police and Cyber Security Service, and the Embassy of Italy in New Delhi.
Both nations agreed to enhance cooperation between their respective agencies, fostering a safe and resilient cyberspace.
