India, Indonesia Renew Commitment to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

The 8th India-Indonesia Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) took place in New Delhi on September 26, 2024, marking a significant milestone in the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations. Jaideep Mazumdar, Secretary (East) of the Ministry of External Affairs, led the Indian delegation, while Abdul Kadir Jailani, Director General for Asia-Pacific and African Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed the Indonesian delegation.
The consultations provided an opportunity for a comprehensive review of bilateral ties, covering political exchanges, defense and security, maritime domain, trade and investment, healthcare, connectivity, science and technology, tourism, culture, and people-to-people exchanges. Both sides also exchanged perspectives on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
The talks highlighted the strength of the India-Indonesia partnership, which has grown significantly since the previous FOC held on April 14, 2022, in Jakarta. The ongoing commemoration of the 75th anniversary of India-Indonesia diplomatic relations was also discussed, underscoring the enduring friendship between the two nations.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the progress made across different sectors and agreed to explore new avenues of cooperation. The next FOC will be held at a mutually convenient date, further solidifying the strategic partnership between India and Indonesia.
The strengthened ties between India and Indonesia are poised to play a vital role in shaping regional and global dynamics.
