India, Indonesia Launch Joint Military Exercise ‘Garud Shakti’
New Delhi: The Indian Army’s special forces contingent has departed for Indonesia to participate in the 9th edition of the bilateral joint exercise ‘Garud Shakti’, taking place from November 1-12, 2024.
The exercise aims to enhance cooperation, mutual understanding, and interoperability between Indian and Indonesian Special Forces. The 12-day joint exercise will feature joint jungle operations, counter-terrorism simulations, special forces skills validation, and exchange of best practices.
The Indian contingent consists of 25 personnel from The Parachute Regiment (Special Forces), while the Indonesian side is represented by 40 personnel from Kopassus Special Forces.
The ‘Garud Shakti’ exercise reinforces the strategic partnership between India and Indonesia, promoting regional security and cooperation. This bilateral engagement underscores the commitment of both nations to strengthening their defense ties and addressing shared security challenges.
