India Conducts Successful Flight-Test of Indigenously Developed VLSRSAM Missile

Chandipur: The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Navy have successfully conducted the flight-test of the Vertically-Launched Short-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (VLSRSAM) from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur, Odisha.
The test, conducted today, involved a land-based vertical launcher and a high-speed aerial target at close range and low altitude. The missile demonstrated its agility, reliability, and accuracy, destroying the target and validating its Near-Boundary-Low Altitude capability.
The VLSRSAM system, featuring an indigenous Radio Frequency seeker, Multi-Function Radar, and Weapon Control System, performed as expected. The test was conducted in combat configuration, with all weapon system elements deployed.
Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, the Indian Navy, and the industry on the successful test, highlighting India’s strong defense research and development capabilities.
DRDO Chairman Dr. Samir V Kamat also congratulated the teams involved, stating that the VLSRSAM will provide a technological boost to the Armed Forces.
