India and UK Deepen Strategic Partnership in 2+2 Talks

New Delhi, India: India and the UK held their second 2+2 Foreign and Defence Dialogue in New Delhi today, marking a significant milestone in their bilateral defence and security relationship.

The dialogue also covered the implementation of the India-UK Roadmap 2030, with both sides agreeing to identify new areas of cooperation to further strengthen their partnership.

The dialogue, which brought together senior officials from both countries, focused on strengthening cooperation in key areas such as defence, security, and innovation. The Indian delegation was led by Piyush Srivastava
Joint Secretary, Europe West, Ministry of External Affairs, and Vishwesh Negi, Joint Secretary, International Cooperation, Ministry of Defence, while the UK delegation was led by Ben Mellor, India Director, Indian Ocean Directorate, Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and Shimon Fhima, Director Strategic Programmes, Ministry of Defence.

During the dialogue, both sides reviewed the progress made in their comprehensive Strategic Partnership and discussed ways to further deepen their cooperation in defence and security. They also exchanged views on regional and global issues, including the Indo-Pacific region, and reaffirmed their commitment to promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.

The third edition of the 2+2 dialogue is scheduled to be held in the UK in 2025, reflecting the commitment of both nations to deepen their strategic partnership and advance cooperation in key areas.
