Abu Dhabi: The 12th Joint Defence Cooperation Committee (JDCC) meeting between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was held in Abu Dhabi, marking a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral defence and security cooperation.
The meeting explored various opportunities for collaboration, including training, joint military exercises, defence industrial cooperation, expert exchange programs, and research and development. Both nations discussed the regional security landscape, emphasizing the need to enhance collaboration to address security challenges, particularly in maritime security.
The two sides agreed to exchange visits and training opportunities in specialized areas, fostering mutual benefit and knowledge sharing. The Indian delegation, led by Joint Secretary Amitabh Prasad, included senior officials from the Ministry of Defence, Armed Forces, and the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi. The UAE side was co-chaired by Brig. General Staff Jamal Ebrahim Mohamed Almazrooqi.
During the visit, Joint Secretary Amitabh Prasad held fruitful discussions with UAE officials, including Assistant Under Secretary Ali Abdulla Al Ahmed and CEO of Tawazun Economic Council. Staff talks between the Navy and Army of both nations were also conducted, focusing on service-specific cooperation.
Established in 2006, the India-UAE JDCC has held 11 previous rounds. The 12th meeting further solidified India’s defence and security relations with the UAE, reinforcing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations.
