India and Israel Strengthen Strategic Partnership
The 17th India-Israel Foreign Office Consultations were held in New Delhi on August 28, 2024, marking another significant milestone in the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two nations. Led by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Israeli Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yaakov Blitshtein, the consultations showcased the depth and breadth of the India-Israel Strategic Partnership.
During the meeting, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on various issues of mutual interest, reviewing the entire spectrum of bilateral endeavors. The prevailing situation in West Asia and the Indo-Pacific region was also a key focus area, with both sides sharing their perspectives and concerns.
Reaffirming India’s strong condemnation of the October 7 terror attacks on Israel, Foreign Secretary Misri called for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages, a ceasefire, continued humanitarian assistance, and adherence to international humanitarian law. He also expressed India’s concern over the escalating situation in West Asia, emphasizing the need for restraint, dialogue, and diplomacy.
The consultations demonstrate the strong bond between India and Israel, built on mutual trust, respect, and a shared commitment to peace and stability in the region. As the strategic partnership continues to grow, both nations are poised to explore new avenues of cooperation, further solidifying their relationship.
