Empowering Women, Cleaning Ganga: BSF Launches Historic River Rafting Expedition

Haridwar: The Border Security Force (BSF) launched its pioneering all-women river rafting expedition today, marking a significant milestone in promoting women empowerment and Ganga cleanliness. Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil inaugurated the event, launching a historic women’s river rafting expedition.

The expedition features trained BSF women embarking on a 53-day, 2,500 km journey. This initiative aims to promote Ganga conservation and women’s empowerment, highlighting the importance of collective action in protecting the river.

The BSF-NMCG All-Women Rafting Expedition will traverse through population centers along the Ganges River, promoting awareness on women empowerment, collaborative gender efforts for national development, river conservation and pollution control, climate change impact on rivers, and the cultural and spiritual significance of the Ganga River.

The expedition’s awareness campaign will be showcased prominently in eight major cities – Haridwar, Garhmukteshwar, Kannuaj, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Patna, and Diamond Harbour.

To ensure the success of this ambitious expedition, all State Missions of Clean Ganga, Nehru Yuva Kendra, stakeholders, and voluntary organizations have been enlisted. Together, they will convey a crucial message promoting a cleaner, more sustainable Ganga River and empowering women.

Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil praised the initiative, stating, “This expedition embodies women empowerment and environmental conservation. We’re proud to support this initiative.”

Key objectives of the expedition include promoting health and fitness awareness, encouraging women’s participation in central armed police forces, and realizing women’s potential. The team will also raise awareness about river conservation, pollution control, and climate change impact on rivers, highlighting the cultural and spiritual significance of the Ganga River.

This historic endeavor showcases the commitment of BSF and NMCG to empowering women and preserving the Ganga River’s cultural and environmental significance.
