DRDO Successfully Completes Flight Tests of Guided Pinaka Weapon System, Boosts India’s Artillery Firepower

India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has achieved a significant milestone with the successful completion of flight tests for the Guided Pinaka Weapon System. This multi-barrel rocket launcher, developed by DRDO’s Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE), boasts impressive capabilities, including launching 12 rockets within 44 seconds, covering an area of 700×500 meters.
The Pinaka system’s evolution is notable, starting with a 37.5 km range and undergoing upgrades to achieve extended ranges and enhanced performance.
Multi-barrel Rocket Launcher System is capable of launching 12 rockets within 44 seconds. Rockets can go up to 75 km, with various warhead types.
These successful trials have garnered international attention, with France expressing interest in the Pinaka system for their military requirements. This development is expected to play a crucial role in expanding India’s footprint in the global defense market.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and DRDO Chairman Dr. Samir V. Kamat have praised the Pinaka’s performance, reinforcing confidence in its role as a powerful artillery asset. With its induction into the Indian Army imminent, the Pinaka system is poised to redefine defense capabilities and cement India’s position as a major player in artillery innovation.
