Chancellor Olaf Scholz Strengthens Indo-German Ties with Goa Visit

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz arrived in Goa as part of his official India tour, received by top dignitaries including Sanjay Seth, Raksha Rajya Mantri, and Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister of Goa.

During his visit, Chancellor Scholz engaged in meaningful discussions with state and Indian Navy officials, bolstering bilateral cooperation. He also toured the German Navy ship FGS Frankfurt am Main, fresh from Maritime Partnership Exercises with the Indian Navy.

A German delegation, led by Nils Hilmer, State Secretary at the German Ministry of Defence, was hosted on the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, highlighting growing naval collaboration.

This visit followed Chancellor Scholz’s New Delhi meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, co-chairing the 7th Intergovernmental Consultations and addressing the 18th Asia Pacific Conference of German Business (APK 2024).

Celebrating 50 years of Indo-German Science and Technology collaboration, Chancellor Scholz’s visit reaffirmed commitments to regional stability, economic cooperation, and people-to-people ties, fortifying the strategic partnership between India and Germany.
