BSF Provides Vital Support to Indian Students Returning from Bangladesh Amidst Ongoing Protests

In the face of ongoing reservation protests in Bangladesh, the Border Security Force (BSF) has come forward to assist Indian students returning home from various Bangladeshi institutions. Despite the Supreme Court’s order, the protests continue, creating a tense atmosphere and prompting Indian students to return home.

The South Bengal Frontier of BSF has set up special assistance counters to provide comprehensive support to the incoming students. Upon arrival, students undergo medical checkups to ensure their health and well-being. Recognizing the impact of the turmoil on the students’ mental state, the BSF has arranged counseling sessions with doctors to help them cope with anxiety and fear.

In addition to medical and counseling support, the BSF is providing hot meals and refreshments to the students at the border. They are then transported to their respective destinations in BSF vehicles, ensuring their safe passage home.

According to A.K. Arya, DIG, and spokesperson for BSF South Bengal Frontier, the force has coordinated with Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) at key points, including ICP Petrapole, LCS Mahadipur, Ghojadanga, and Gede. This collaboration has enabled a well-planned and coordinated operation, with BGB safely escorting students to the international border and BSF taking over their care and transportation thereafter.

The ongoing anti-reservation protests in Bangladesh have created a challenging law and order situation, posing security concerns for the Border Security Force (BSF). With over 8,000 Indian students studying in Bangladesh, mostly in medical colleges, the BSF has prioritized their safe return.

The BSF appreciates the cooperation and good relations with BGB, which has helped in the safe evacuation of students. With more students expected to cross over in the coming days, the BSF is fully prepared to provide assistance and ensure their safe return.

The prevailing law and order situation is a security concern for the BSF, which has beefed up security measures to prevent criminal elements from taking advantage of the situation. BSF troops are on high alert, with maximum mobilization and senior commanders camping at the border to ensure operational preparedness

The BSF’s timely intervention has brought hope and relief to the distressed students, demonstrating the force’s commitment to their safety and well-being.
