BRICS Summit Charts New Course for Global Cooperation

Recently held BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia, marked a significant milestone in the alliance’s evolution. Leaders from 35 states and 6 international organizations gathered under the motto “Strengthening Multilateralism for Equitable Global Development and Security.”

Russian Ambassador Denis Alipov highlighted the key outcomes of the summit, noting that despite initial doubts, the expanded membership succeeded in finding common ground. BRICS has transformed into an indispensable framework for emerging centers of power, attracting more countries as a response to global turbulence and uncertainty.

“We succeeded quite well despite all doubts regarding differences within the expanded membership. Because our biggest value is the sincere dedication to find amicable solutions and a common ground when it comes to difficult issues.” said Ambassador Denis Alipov.

As per Ambassador, key outcomes of the BRICS Summit are establishment of a new partner-country category allows individually invited nations to join the forum and expand BRICS’ global influence.

The New Development Bank has been strengthened with over 100 infrastructure projects worth USD 35 billion, promoting sustainable infrastructure development, renewable energy, and environmental protection.

Financial cooperation has been enhanced through BRICS Cross-Border Payments and BRICS Clear, facilitating international transactions and economic cooperation among member states.

Sectoral cooperation has deepened in energy research, clean rivers, and women empowerment, addressing critical global challenges.

BRICS promotes just and equal multipolarity, supporting the needs and aspirations of developing countries and reinforcing the central role of the United Nations.

Russian Ambassador Denis Alipov added, Kazan Summit signaled a new era of cooperation, with Russia committed to strengthening BRICS through practical cooperation and international coordination.

As a dedicated platform for the Global South, BRICS offers diversified, inclusive, and consensus-based cooperation, rejecting unilateral sanctions and interference. With over 80 sectoral tracks, BRICS prioritizes legitimate national interests and the UN’s central role.
