Assam Chief Minister Meets EU Ambassador to Discuss Potential Collaborations

New Delhi: A meeting took place between Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and European Union Ambassador to India, Hervé Delphin, at the EU Ambassador’s residence in New Delhi. The discussion focused on exploring potential collaboration opportunities between Assam and the European Union.

The meeting between Dr. Sarma and Ambassador Delphin discussed various sectors where collaboration could be mutually beneficial, including clean energy, semiconductors, higher education, skill development, and the aromatics and fragrances industry.

Dr. Sarma expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Delphin and other EU Member country representatives for their support at the recently concluded Advantage Assam Summit 2.0 in Guwahati. The summit aimed to promote investment and economic growth in Assam.

In addition to these potential collaborations, Ambassador Delphin informed Dr. Sarma that the European Union is considering opening a Programme Management Office in Guwahati. This office would facilitate EU-funded projects and programs in the region. Dr. Sarma assured Ambassador Delphin that the Assam government would provide full support for this initiative, under the guidance of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.

Following the meeting, Dr. Sarma shared his thoughts on social media, acknowledging the EU’s support and the productive discussion on potential collaborations. The meeting is seen as a positive step towards strengthening ties between Assam and the European Union.
