Army Task Force Joins Rescue Efforts After Tunnel Collapse in Telangana

Hyderabad: A massive rescue operation is underway in Telangana’s Nagarkurnool district after a tunnel collapse trapped atleast eight workers inside. The Indian Army has mobilized its Task Force to assist in the rescue efforts.

According to officials, the incident occurred early Friday morning when a three-meter section of the roof of an under-construction stretch of the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel caved in. Eight labourers are feared to be trapped inside.

The Army’s Engineer Task Force (ETF) has been deployed to the site, equipped with specialist engineering teams, medical detachments, and heavy machinery. The ETF Commander is coordinating efforts with the civil administration to ensure a seamless rescue operation.

“We are working tirelessly to rescue the trapped workers,” said an Army official. “Our teams are using specialized equipment to clear the debris and reach the trapped workers.”

In addition to the Army’s efforts, NDRF and SDRF teams have also been deployed to the site. The rescue mission is underway, with a focus on ensuring the safe evacuation of all trapped workers.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of workers engaged in infrastructure projects. The government has ordered an investigation into the incident.
