Army Hospital Unveils Cutting-Edge Skin Bank Facility to Enhance Burn Care
New Delhi: In a groundbreaking move, Army Hospital (Research & Referral) has established a cutting-edge skin bank facility, a first-of-its-kind in the Armed Forces Medical Services. This pioneering initiative aims to transform the treatment of severe burn injuries and skin-related conditions for service members and their families.
The skin bank will serve as a central hub for collecting, processing, storing, and distributing skin grafts, providing a vital resource for military medical centers nationwide. This facility ensures access to advanced skin replacement therapies for personnel and their families.
A team of highly trained medical professionals, including plastic surgeons, tissue engineers, and specialized technicians, will staff the skin bank. The facility will maintain the highest standards of quality control and safety, ensuring the integrity and reliability of skin grafts.
Lieutenant General Arindam Chatterjee, DGMS (Army) and Colonel Commandant, hailed the launch as a testament to the unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of service members. The facility will enhance care quality and strengthen support for those affected by serious injuries.
