Army Father’s Ultimate Sacrifice: Donates Son’s Organs to Save Lives

In a heart-wrenching yet inspiring display of courage and generosity, Havildar Naresh Kumar, a serving Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) of the 10th Battalion of the Mahar Regiment, has donated his son’s organs to save the lives of six critically ill patients.
Tragedy struck on February 8, this year, when Havildar Kumar’s 18-year-old son, Master Arshdeep Singh, met with a tragic road accident and succumbed to his injuries. In the face of unimaginable grief, Havildar Kumar made a remarkable decision that would change the lives of six families forever.
On February 16, Havildar Kumar consented to donate his son’s liver, kidney, pancreas, and corneas, giving six critically ill patients a second chance at life. The liver and kidney were swiftly transported via a green corridor to the Army Hospital Research and Referral in New Delhi, while the kidney and pancreas were transplanted into a patient battling life-threatening Type 1 Diabetes with Chronic Kidney Disease at PGI. The corneas were preserved to restore sight to those in need.
This life-saving effort was made possible through the expertise of Command Hospital, Chandimandir, renowned for its excellence in organ retrieval. Havildar Kumar’s selfless act is a testament to the power of love and generosity, and an inspiration to many.
