Amit Shah Launches BHARATPOL Portal to Enhance International Cooperation in Law Enforcement
New Delhi: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah today launched the BHARATPOL portal, a groundbreaking initiative developed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to facilitate seamless communication and cooperation between Indian law enforcement agencies and INTERPOL.
The launch event, held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, was attended by Union Home Secretary, the Director of CBI, and the Secretary of DoPT. Shah also presented police medals to 35 award-winning CBI officers, recognizing their exceptional service and investigative excellence.
In his address, Shah emphasized the significance of the BHARATPOL portal in enhancing India’s law enforcement capabilities and fostering global cooperation. He noted that the portal’s launch marks a new era in international investigation, enabling Indian agencies to connect with INTERPOL effortlessly and expedite investigations.
The BHARATPOL portal is a technological platform that supports law enforcement agencies, facilitating real-time information sharing and collaboration with agencies in 195 countries. Shah highlighted the portal’s potential to transform investigative processes, enabling law enforcement agencies to combat transnational crimes more effectively.
Shah urged the CBI to take the lead in implementing BHARATPOL and ensuring its widespread adoption at the grassroots level. He noted that the portal will bring numerous benefits, including enhanced international cooperation and information sharing, faster and more efficient investigations, improved access to INTERPOL databases and resources, and increased effectiveness in combating transnational crimes.
The launch of the BHARATPOL portal is a significant milestone in India’s efforts to strengthen its law enforcement capabilities and enhance global cooperation.
