Against All Odds: Enmeta Village Gets Its First School 77 Years After Independence
Narayanpur: Enmeta village in Chhattisgarh’s Naxal-affected Abujhmad, which was once known for the stronghold of Naxal commander Dosel, is now free Naxal activities. The local adminstration of Chhattisgarh government established a school in the thatched hut with the help of the villagers.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai stated, “The government’s effort is to ensure that education, health, and basic facilities reach every corner of Chhattisgarh. Establishing a school in areas like Enmeta, which are both remote and Naxal-affected, is proof of our commitment to bring change through education. Our goal is to connect the youth of Naxal-affected areas to the mainstream by providing them with education and employment opportunities. This initiative will prove to be a milestone for the bright future of these children.”
The transformation of an abundant hut into a primary school in the Naxal-affected village has become an epitome of change 77 years after independence.
Due to the unavailability of a permanent school building, a hut in the center of the village has been transformed into a temple of education. Leaving behind the slogans of “Lal Salaam”, the children in this village are now learning alphabet and counting.
Now, the morning in Enmeta begins with children going to school with their books and slates.
Collector Vipin Manji said, “Enmeta used to be the center of Naxal activities. For the last 77 years, this village was deprived of basic amenities. Due to Naxal activities, the development of schools, roads, and other infrastructure was stalled. However, with the administration’s initiative, the situation is now changing.”
Due to Naxal activities, previous efforts to establish a permanent school were unsuccessful, but the administration decided to take a different approach this time and transformed a hut into a school.
