283 Indian Nationals Rescued from Myanmar, Return Home

New Delhi: In a major rescue operation, the Government of India has brought back 283 Indian nationals who were trapped in Myanmar after being lured by fake job offers. The individuals were forced into cybercrime and other illicit activities.

The Indian embassies in Myanmar and Thailand collaborated with local authorities to secure the release of the nationals. An Indian Air Force aircraft transported them from Mae Sot in Thailand back to India.

The Government of India has reiterated its warning to citizens about the dangers of fake job offers in Southeast Asia. Indian nationals are advised to verify the credentials of foreign employers and check the backgrounds of recruiting agents and companies before accepting job offers.

This successful rescue operation highlights India’s commitment to protecting its citizens abroad and underscores the need for vigilance against fraudulent job offers.
