Defence Minister Visits Bengaluru’s Institute of Aerospace Medicine

Bengaluru: Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, visited the Institute of Aerospace Medicine (IAM) in Bengaluru, Karnataka, today. He inspected the state-of-the-art facilities, including the Dynamic Flight Simulator, High Performance Human Centrifuge, and Spatial Disorientation Simulator. The visit marked the first time a Defence Minister has visited the institute.
During the visit, Singh was briefed on the institute’s research and training activities. He also inspected the facility’s equipment, including flight simulators and centrifuges.
The minister launched a research project on space psychology, which aims to study the behavioral health of astronauts. The project is a collaboration between the institute and the Indian Council of Medical Research.
Singh emphasized the importance of aerospace medicine in supporting India’s space program and national security. He praised the institute’s work in developing expertise in aerospace medicine and its contributions to the development of India’s aerospace sector.
The visit was attended by senior officers of the IAF, including Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal AP Singh and Director General Medical Services (Air) Air Marshal Sandeep Thareja.
