LCA Tejas Gets Indigenous Oxygen System

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has achieved a significant milestone in indigenous defense technology with the successful testing of the Indigenous On-Board Oxygen Generating System (OBOGS)-based Integrated Life Support System (ILSS) for the LCA Tejas aircraft at high altitudes.

The ILSS, designed to provide breathable oxygen to pilots during flight, underwent rigorous testing on the LCA-Prototype Vehicle-3 aircraft, meeting stringent aeromedical standards. It demonstrated excellent performance in varied flight conditions, including high-G maneuvers and altitudes of up to 50,000 feet.

The system has been manufactured by L&T, with 90% indigenous content, marking a significant milestone in India’s pursuit of self-reliance in aerospace technology. Its adaptability for use in other aircraft, including the MiG-29K, adds to its significance.

The ILSS provides real-time oxygen generation, ensuring pilot endurance and operational effectiveness. With 90% indigenous content, it promotes self-reliance in aerospace technology. The system’s adaptable design allows it to be used in other aircraft, including the MiG-29K.

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, IAF, and industry partners on this achievement, emphasizing India’s commitment to cutting-edge defense technologies.
