Amit Shah Reviews Security Situation in Manipur, Announces Key Measures

New Delhi: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah chaired a high-level meeting today to review the security situation in Manipur. During the meeting Home Minister issued directives to ensure unrestricted movement of people on all roads in Manipur, effective March 8, 2025. Additionally, he has ordered strict action against individuals attempting to create obstacles or disrupt the peace.
Shah reiterated the Government of India’s commitment to restoring lasting peace in Manipur, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He announced several key measures to ensure the safety and security of the people of Manipur.

Additionally, Shah emphasized the need to complete fencing work on both sides of designated entry points along Manipur’s international border. This measure aims to strengthen border security and prevent illegal activities.
The meeting was attended by top officials, including the Governor of Manipur, Union Home Secretary, and Directors General of the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Assam Rifles.
To address the issue of drug trafficking, Shah stressed the importance of dismantling the entire network involved in the drug trade, with the goal of making Manipur drug-free.
Effective March 8, 2025, free movement of people will be ensured on all roads in Manipur. Strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to create obstructions, Shah directed.
The meeting demonstrates the government’s focus on addressing the security concerns in Manipur and ensuring the well-being of its citizens.
