Keshkal Tunnel Set to Transform Bastar’s Economy and Tourism

Raipur: The Keshkal Tunnel, a game-changing infrastructure project, is poised to revolutionize connectivity between Chhattisgarh and South India. This modern road tunnel will drastically reduce travel time, boost tourism, and unlock new economic opportunities for the region.
Currently, the journey from Raipur to Visakhapatnam takes approximately 12 hours. However, with the completion of the Keshkal Tunnel, travel time will be slashed to just 7 hours. The tunnel’s construction is progressing rapidly, with around 10 meters of rock being excavated daily.
The improved connectivity will have a profound impact on the region’s economy, particularly in the tourism sector. Bastar’s natural beauty and cultural heritage will become more accessible, attracting visitors to popular attractions like Chitrakote Waterfall, Tirathgarh Waterfall, Kutumsar Caves, and the famous Danteshwari Temple.
The tunnel will also open up new avenues for trade and industry, enabling farmers in Chhattisgarh and Bastar to transport their produce, forest products, and handicrafts to South Indian markets with ease.
The government’s vision for the region extends beyond infrastructure development. With improved connectivity, access to schools, hospitals, and employment opportunities will increase, paving the way for peace and prosperity in Bastar. The government aims to eliminate Naxalism from the region by March 2026.
As the Keshkal Tunnel nears completion, Bastar is poised for rapid progress, increased trade, and improved connectivity, ushering in a new era of growth and development for the region.
