BSF, BGB Join Hands to Fortify Border Security

In a move to enhance border security, the Border Security Force (BSF) of India and the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) convened for the 55th Director General level Border Co-ordination Conference in New Delhi.

The four-day conference, held from February 17 to 20, 2025, brought together top brass from both forces to discuss pressing issues pertinent to border management, including the prevention of trans-border crimes, human trafficking, and illegal crossing.

At the forefront of the discussions was the imperative to curb violence along the India-Bangladesh border. Both sides acknowledged the need for synergistic efforts to uphold human rights and prevent loss of life. To this end, they agreed to intensify joint patrolling, vigilance, and public awareness programs.

The conference also underscored the importance of the Coordinated Border Management Plan (CBMP) in curbing trans-border crimes and human trafficking. Both sides concurred on the need to share real-time information and investigation reports to effectively combat these menace.

The Indian delegation was led by Daljit Singh Chawdhary, Director General, BSF, while the Bangladesh delegation was headed by Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, Director General, BGB.

Furthermore, the BSF and BGB reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace and tranquility along the border. They agreed to continue engaging in various bilateral activities, including coordinated joint patrolling, games and sports, joint retreat ceremonies, and goodwill visits.

The conference culminated with both sides expressing satisfaction over the outcome and agreeing to convene the next Director General level conference in Dhaka, Bangladesh, in July 2025.
