Indian Navy Ships Arrive in Indonesia for International Fleet Review

Bali:The Indian Navy’s INS Shardul and a Long Range Maritime Surveillance P8I aircraft have arrived in Bali, Indonesia, to participate in the Indonesian Navy’s International Fleet Review (IFR) 2025 and the multilateral naval exercise Komodo.
The IFR, scheduled from February 15 to 22, is a multinational naval event that will be reviewed by the President of Indonesia. The event will witness participation from naval forces from various countries, including India, and will provide a platform for navies to showcase their capabilities and strengthen ties.
During the IFR, the Indian Navy will participate in various high-level engagements, including the International Maritime Security Symposium and tactical floor games. The crew will also join in multinational activities such as a city parade, baby turtle release, coral and mangrove plantation, and beach cleaning, underscoring India’s commitment to environmental conservation and maritime cooperation.
Following the IFR, INS Shardul and the P8I will participate in Exercise Komodo, a multilateral naval exercise aimed at enhancing maritime interoperability and regional security cooperation. The exercise is part of India’s efforts to engage with regional navies to maintain Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR).
The Indian Navy’s participation in the IFR and Exercise Komodo follows a series of recent engagements with the Indonesian Navy, including the participation of INS Mumbai and a P8I aircraft in the LA PEROUSE exercises in Indonesia last month. The visit of Admiral Muhammad Ali, Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy, to India last month, as part of a high-level delegation accompanying President Prabowo Subianto, further underscores the strengthening ties between the two navies.
The Indian Navy’s regular participation in these exercises is a reaffirmation of India’s commitment to engaging with regional navies to promote maritime cooperation and security in the region.
