Union Home Minister Amit Shah Chairs High-Level Meeting on Jammu and Kashmir Security
New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level review meeting on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing the government’s commitment to eliminating terrorism in the region. The meeting was attended by top officials, including the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, and the Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi.
During the meeting, Shah directed security agencies to achieve “zero infiltration” and adopt a stringent approach to counter terrorism. He expressed concern over the narco network’s support to infiltrators and terrorists, stressing the need for prompt action against terror funding from the proceeds of the narcotics trade.
The Home Minister also instructed agencies to make new appointments in the posts of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to facilitate the timely implementation of new criminal laws. He emphasized the importance of synergy among security agencies to eliminate terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
Shah appreciated the efforts of security agencies in improving the security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir. He noted that the terrorism ecosystem in the region has been significantly weakened due to the sustained and coordinated efforts of the Modi government.
The meeting underscored the government’s “zero tolerance” policy against terrorism. Shah directed all security agencies to remain vigilant and continue to work in synergy to achieve the goal of a terrorism-free Jammu and Kashmir.
