Ukraine Marks 106th Anniversary of Unity Amidst War with Russia
New Delhi: Ukraine celebrates its Unity Day for the third consecutive year, amidst the ongoing conflict with Russia. To honor this occasion, the Ukrainian Embassy in India, along with the local Ukrainian community, formed a symbolic “Chain of Unity.”
The Unification Act, signed at St. Sophia Square in Kiev, marked a significant milestone in Ukraine’s pursuit of independence and sovereignty.
“Today, Ukraine’s unity remains a powerful symbol of resistance against Russian aggression and a testament to the country’s unwavering commitment to freedom and territorial integrity.” said Ukraine Embassy in a statement.
This national holiday commemorates the 106th anniversary of the Act of Unification, which united the Ukrainian People’s Republic and the Western Ukrainian People’s Republic in 1919.
As per Ukraine Embassy, this gesture echoes the spirit of the original “Chain of Unity” formed on January 21, 1990, when millions of Ukrainians joined hands from Kiev to Lviv, demonstrating their unbreakable resolve for unity and independence.
Ukraine pays tribute to the brave defenders who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their nation’s freedom and unity.
