Adani Group’s Kutch Copper Ltd Joins International Copper Association

Washington D.C.: Kutch Copper Ltd, a subsidiary of Adani Group, has joined the International Copper Association (ICA), a prestigious trade association representing half of the world’s copper production.

This strategic move aims to promote sustainable copper production, innovative applications, and products within the copper sector. Kutch Copper’s state-of-the-art facility in Mundra, Gujarat, will produce copper cathodes, rods, and other byproducts, significantly contributing to India’s goal of becoming self-reliant in copper production.

“Kutch Copper’s membership in the ICA will enable us to contribute to sustainability initiatives and develop innovative applications and products within the copper sector,” said Dr. Vinay Prakash, Managing Director of Kutch Copper.

ICA President and CEO Juan Ignacio Díaz welcomed Kutch Copper, stating, “Their efforts in advancing sustainable and innovative copper production strengthen our collective mission to promote copper’s essential role in global decarbonization.”

Kutch Copper is investing $1.2 billion to establish a copper smelter with an initial capacity of 0.5 million tons per annum (MTPA). The company aims to achieve a total capacity of 1 MTPA, positioning it as one of the largest single-location custom copper smelters globally.
