New Delhi: In a significant development, National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval met with his US counterpart, Jake Sullivan, in New Delhi today.
US NSA Jake Sullivan briefed the Indian side on updates to US missile export control policies, which will boost commercial space cooperation with India. He also announced US efforts to delist Indian nuclear entities, promoting civil nuclear cooperation and resilient clean energy supply chains.
The two NSAs have been engaging in regular high-level dialogue, discussing a broad range of bilateral, regional, and global issues. Meeting focused on reviewing the progress made in their dialogue, particularly in areas like defense, cyber, and maritime security.
The meeting marked a crucial milestone in the strengthening strategic partnership between India and the United States.
A major outcome of the meeting was the discussion on the India-US Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET). Launched by Prime Minister Modi and President Biden in May 2022, iCET aims to drive cooperation between the two countries in areas like artificial intelligence, quantum computing, semiconductors, telecommunications, defense, and space.
United States is set to remove Indian nuclear entities, including the Indira Gandhi Atomic Research Centre and Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), from its “Entity List”. This will facilitate enhanced civil nuclear cooperation between India and the United States.
The meeting highlights the strengthening strategic partnership between India and the US, with a shared commitment to peaceful nuclear cooperation. The two countries are poised to make significant progress in critical and emerging technologies, defense, and energy cooperation.
The India-US strategic partnership has gained significant momentum in recent years, with cooperation in areas like counter-terrorism, maritime security, and trade. The meeting between the two NSAs is expected to further boost this partnership, with a focus on emerging technologies and global security challenges.
As the world grapples with increasingly complex security challenges, the India-US strategic partnership is poised to play a critical role in promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and beyond.
