India Welcomes French Carrier Strike Group with FNS Charles De Gaulle for Naval Exercises
New Delhi: In a big boost to Indo-French maritime cooperation, the French carrier strike group (CSG), led by the aircraft carrier FNS Charles De Gaulle, has arrived in India for a historic stopover. The visit, which is part of Mission CLEMENCEAU 25, will see the French CSG engage in bilateral exercises with the Indian Navy, further strengthening ties between the two nations.
The visit highlights the strong strategic partnership between India and France, which has been reinforced through regular bilateral exercises and operational collaborations. The two nations have been engaging in joint exercises such as Shakti (land), Varuna (naval), and Garuda (air) to enhance interoperability and strengthen their partnership.
During the visit, the French CSG will participate in the 42nd annual Varuna naval exercise with the Indian Navy. The exercise aims to enhance interoperability between the two navies and prepare crews to respond to a range of maritime threats.
